Walk with me. You're an employer. You employ Jack. If Jack came to you at the end of the week, and despite his late start, early finish, sick leave, grandma died leave, grandma died again leave and a catalogue of rude behavior, he then requested his full wages, would you be paying him as requested?
For most of us, the answer will be a massive 'No'. We would not be comfortable with paying Jack to essentially take a ride on the corporate train. So how about ourselves? We can breathe, read, write, work, travel and enjoy the company of fine people, so how is it we forget the One who gave us all these many blessings?
This is compounded by the fact that most of us, even though we forget these blessings or more importantly the One who gave them to us, it is Him to whom we turn to when in most need.
When a loved one becomes sick, we turn in prayer. When a loved one dies, we turn in prayer. And that is our natural disposition, as God says:
Truly, it is in the remembrance of God that hearts find rest. (The Quran, 13:28)
So life is pretty fun right?
Friday night; nice. Out with the girls; nice. Shopping till you drop; nice. But let us ask you this, could life be only about that? Could life be purely about temporal pleasures, could there be no higher purpose than simply spending time in a place, enjoying it and then that's it? All these amazing facets of nature, wonderful discoveries, advancement in human capacity, but me and you, we are just here for a short time for eating, sleeping, procreating and that scary one: dying?
The reason it seems bizarre, is if it was true, then life itself would be the greatest anomaly on the face of the planet. So great news, it's not, there is a purpose!
God the One who created, you, me and all of us, makes clear what this purpose is, as He says,
"I created the spirits and mankind only to worship Me." (The Quran, 51:56)
The simple idea being, life in itself is to be a mechanism for screening those that seek good from those that seek bad. With those in pursuit of bad pursuing it to its ultimate destination and those pursuing good, pursuing it all the way to paradise.
So here goes. You woke up this morning. Many didn’t. You were able to dress yourself. Many cannot. You were able to see many of our posters and many cannot. Are these not amazing things we are able to do and yet take for granted? So here we are, walking through the corridors of life, and have we ever thought for a moment, how this world has come together?
Look out of your window, seriously, get up, walk over to the window and look at the perfection of nature. Could all this just come together by chance, or are we actually denying the signs of the Creator and the Creator Himself?
Our Creator, God All-Mighty, encourages thinking about this in His book, the Quran - the Last Testament - about the world around us, because without question the proof of the Creator is none other than creation itself.
Consider the one thing we can all relate to, life itself.
Pre-ultrasound, pre-xrays, pre-MRIs, the Quran, over 1400 years ago, explained in detail the process of human embryology. Read for yourself:
"We created man from an essence of clay, then We placed him as a sperm drop in a safe place, then We made that drop into a clinging form, and We made that form into a lump of flesh, and We made that lump into bones, and We clothed those bones with flesh, and later We made him into other forms. So glory be to God, the best of creators!" (The Quran, 23:12-14)
That just can't be a great guess right?
